Cybersec/Public VMWare Servers

CIS has a number of VMware Servers that are accessible by staff and students. This page outlines what you need to know about them.

Public VMWware Servers

Users have ssh and vmware-server-console access on these machines.
- Access to these two services are controlled via the vmware_users group in Active Directory.
Users also need to be in the local vmware group to access vmware-server resources.
- In /common/admin/gentoo/bin/groups/ is a script called vmware_group.sh which adds users to the local vmware group. It is ran by cfengine on the apprproiate machines.
- Users can be added to the appropiate flat file in this directory, which are read by the script.
